The plight of Alex Gibney's Taxi To the Dark Side drew attention to a very common problem that independent filmmakers face.  In the standard film distribution agreement, are distributors actually obligated to distribute the picture at all?  What remedies does the filmmaker have if the film doesn't get shown as widely as hoped?
