Originally inspired by archaeological remnants of Greek and Roman sculpture destroyed in a continuous cycle of wars, this collection evolved into the Fragments mission following a visit to Vietnam in 2003, where the artist witnessed the tragedy of landmines. A collection of 19 one-quarter life-size bronzes, the exhibition’s broken bodies tell of the tragedy of war, but also man’s enduring instinct for survival. The objective of the Fragments campaign is to raise public awareness of the social problems caused by landmines. The Fragments series will be shown at The Chelsea Arts Tower, 545 West 25th Street, 14th Floor, NYC, from April 14 to 23, 2008, and again on October 22 and 23, 2008. Proceeds from every sale of the limited edition sculptures during the New York City exhibition are being generously donated to Adopt-a-Minefield.
