Barker's latest novel is the 838-page epic, "Darkmans," which was selected for the 2007 Booker Prize short list.  This critically acclaimed British fiction writer was longlisted for the Man Booker prize in 2004 for "Clear", a novel inspired by David Blaine's dramatic suspension over East London.
