Cristina Vergano - Fine Artist.

Cristina Vergano, Fine Artist.
A native of Italy, Cristina Vergano depicts an intriguing world where creatures, both human and animal, inhabit pastoral landscapes or rich interiors.  Her works often blend imaginative playfulness and surreal content, and are rendered in oil paints, with academic old master technique. Each of Vergano's exhibitions develops its own original theme and narrative, while all the works are unified by her meticulous style.  Since the late 1980's Vergano has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums. A solo exhibition at Manhattan's Woodward Gallery, which represents her, is scheduled for 2009.  Vergano's work appeared on the cover of a book by George Singleton, and has been mentioned by Nora Roberts in "Black Rose".  Her paintings have been repeatedly reviewed in Art in America and Artnews, and have been featured in articles in Art and Antiques, Juxtapoz, Esquire, the Georgia Review, and others.
