Kathy Lynch’s current practice is exclusively litigation. She has extensive courtroom experience appearing in courtrooms throughout the five boroughs of New York City, Nassau and Westchester County. Lynch represents small business clients in commercial litigation matters, handling all phases of litigation from inception through trial. Lynch has obtained numerous successful verdicts and summary judgment decisions, and has particular expertise in the areas of construction law and defamation litigation.
Lynch’s common sense and no-nonsense approach to her commercial litigation practice mirrors her down-to-earth personality. She takes a unique interest in her clients, never forgetting that their business interests drive the court case, not vice versa. Prior to starting her own law firm in 1999, Lynch was associated with a criminal defense firm and a plaintiff’s civil litigation firm that specialized in personal injury matters. Lynch also has years of experience working in insurance defense. She worked for many years at American International Group Insurance Company (AIG) and subsequently was lead attorney at a defense firm handling over three hundred insurance defense files from their inception up to and including trial. Lynch is an active member of the National Lawyer’s Guild-NYC Chapter’s Writ Squad (other members include Margaret Ratner Kunstler, Elizabeth M. Fink and Deborah Hrbek), which group of attorneys has successfully obtained the release of protesters wrongfully detained.
Lynch is an adjunct professor at City University of New York and is proficient in Spanish. She maintains an office in Manhattan and she lives in Westchester with her husband and children.
