Madison Smith works at the intersection of music business, rights administration, creative operations, and legal affairs workflows within the entertainment industry.
In her work as a paralegal, she manages U.S. Copyright Office registration matters for clients across music, film, television, literary, photography, and visual arts industries, including preparation of registration materials, supporting documentation, and filing guidance. She conducts legal research involving copyright law, state and federal statutes, and multi-jurisdictional public records searches, including Secretary of State databases, licensing boards, USPTO records, and other intellectual property and business registration systems.
Madison drafts, redlines, and reviews a variety of agreements, including licensing, publishing, management, consulting, independent contractor, work-for-hire, assignment and ownership agreements, addenda, and demand letters across creative industries. She also supports pre-litigation and litigation-adjacent administrative matters through document review, file organization, and preparation of materials for attorney review, and assists with client and partner correspondence, document management, and general firm operations.
Madison is also the Founder and CEO of BleuMoon Music Group, LLC, an independent record label providing traditional label partnerships, administrative support, educational resources, and digital press for artists. Through this work, she manages catalog administration, metadata systems, royalty tracking, publishing splits, and distribution logistics, while overseeing registrations with the USCO, ASCAP, SoundExchange, The MLC, and other rights organizations. Similar to her paralegal work, she also drafts, redlines, and negotiates a wide range of intellectual property, rights, and ownership agreements for the label, including NIL, confidentiality, work-for-hire, co-ownership, licensing, venue release, studio services, third-party contributor, and internship agreements.
Outside of BleuMoon, Madison has supported companies and nonprofit organizations, including Head Bitch Music and MusicAnswers, in label services and distribution operations, creating and managing detailed metadata and release documentation and contributing to music rights advocacy initiatives that help independent creators better understand and manage their intellectual property and navigate composition and sound recording copyright, licensing, and royalty collection.

Client Reviews
Deborah is such a bad ass! During a negotiation call the only thing I have to do is smile while she plays hardball and I don’t have to worry about a thing.
Thank you so much Deborah for taking me on as a client. For years, I was roaming around in the dark hoping to see some light. My conversations with you have done exactly that. I am incredibly excited to continue working with you and truly appreciate your guidance thus far.
Deborah is smart, pragmatic and forthright
Deborah has the unique ability to present an 'ask' in a way that is undeniably clear and justified. She has fundamentally changed the way I approach my valuation in the industry by removing the 'cringe factor' from discussions around compensation. She brings a charming touch of grace to negotiations...
Deborah made a confusing and painful process understandable and linear. We could not have asked for a better lawyer.
Deborah makes reviewing legal documents so easy. I know she always has my best interests at heart. It's a pleasure working with her.
Deborah is simply amazing. She is a master at protecting her clients. She will protect you and always have your back. I am so lucky to have found her.
