Madison Smith

Madison Smith works at the intersection of music business, rights administration, creative operations, and legal affairs workflows within the entertainment industry.

She is the Founder and CEO of BleuMoon Music Group, LLC, an independent record label that provides traditional label partnerships, administrative support, educational resources, and free digital press to artists. Through this work, Madison drafts, redlines, and negotiates a wide range of intellectual property, rights, and ownership agreements, including NIL, confidentiality, work-for-hire, co-ownership, licensing, venue release, studio services, third-party contributor, and internship agreements. She manages active catalogs and tracks royalty, publishing, and master splits across platforms, while overseeing the accurate use of essential metadata and identifiers, including ISRCs, ISWCs, IPI numbers, UPC codes, and platform asset IDs. She registers works with the U.S. Copyright Office, as well as performance rights organizations and royalty collection agencies such as ASCAP, The MLC, Sentric, and SoundExchange, while simultaneously overseeing release logistics, distribution coordination, and campaign planning. Madison also manages operational and financial aspects of the label, including internal accounting reports, and ensuring compliance with the Georgia Secretary of State and IRS. She has navigated intellectual property disputes and facilitated legal actions in collaboration with organizations such as Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts.

Outside of BleuMoon, Madison has supported companies and nonprofit organizations, including Head Bitch Music and MusicAnswers, in label services and distribution operations, creating and managing detailed metadata and release documentation and contributing to music rights advocacy initiatives that help independent creators better understand and manage their intellectual property and navigate composition and sound recording copyright, licensing, and royalty collection.
